SpeedFun 2022 Season Opener
Hosted by SpeedFun.
In a sea of delicious cuisine comes areas of spacious parking lots, perfect for car enthusiasts to get together. The newest one, which is located in Silver Star Boulevard checks off many boxes that make it a great place for a car meet. Newly paved asphalt, an organized sectional layout, and in this case, enough shade for everyone. That helped make a great recipe for a successful third car meet.
According to one of the organizers I had talked to, this was their third meet with their first and second being earlier this year. I got the invite from a friend of mine who happens to be one of the organizers, and I am without a doubt happy I made the right call. Living 15 minutes away from the venue was definitely convincing as well, but that doesn’t take away the fact that the meet was hosted from 3pm - 6pm, which was quite probably the hottest hours of the day.
With the sun shining bright, I couldn’t help but notice all the paint glistening; with metallic flakes dancing and different shades in the color appearing; it was an amazing sight to see. There were a good number of PTS Porsches that showed up, together with some very rare colors on some very special cars.
One could not miss the McLaren Senna sitting right in the middle of the lot in the Volcano Red paint. The beautiful dark-tone red mixed with some blacks and a hint of blue is absolutely breathtaking. The somehow road legal car is quite the sight to see, especially in a public parking lot.
Thanks to Lilian from @twindriven (Instagram), we were able to use his photos below to complement the beautiful Senna under the sun.
Beside the Senna are two 992 GT3s, with one in the Touring iteration. Side by side, it’s hard to pick which one I prefer. It seems like on some days I’m in the mood for the wingless look and on some days I prefer the wing. I’m not purchasing one anytime soon so I shouldn’t be stressing about these options. But I can’t deny that both just look so good.
While the meet may not have been filled with fully built, modded cars, the attendees definitely brought out some awesome cars in different specs. Some meets, the vibe is just not right. Despite the scorching heat, it did not phase anyone’s mood and everyone had a smile on their faces. We’re all just happy to be out with our cars again.
I was glad to see an E92 present, and I was absolutely stunned by the paint on this car. I’m not quite sure if this is factory paint — perhaps the Santorini Blue that was in extremely low production? Nonetheless, this E92 is just well done.
Speaking of paint, the Nardo Grey by Audi just doesn’t miss. It was definitely a favorite by the attendees.
I know there’s mixed feelings about Red Ferraris these days. Some say it has to be red, and the other party believes it shouldn’t be. Regardless of where you stand, you can’t deny that those things definitely own the color.
While exotic cars are great in many ways, it’s always lovely to see a group of JDM cars. No matter where you are, there are just cars that will forever remain relevant in the scene. The A90/A91 Supra has clearly been widely accepted, especially now with their 6 speed coming into production. I think this one will be seen for many more decades to come, just like the AE86s.
In case you are tired of car meets, one of the attendees decided it was time for a change. His version? Bring a 6x6 with a fishing boat to show just how it’s done.
The Apocalypse 6x6 was derived from a Jeep Gladiator and was given a whole lot of steroids. The entire body is covered in bed liner which makes the truck just short of being bulletproof. The motor comes from a 6.2L V8 Corvette as the base, with the option to upgrade to a 700hp monster from a 6.2L V8 supercharged Hellcat.
If this isn’t enough for a day’s trip in the woods, or perhaps the apocalypse, then I don’t know what is.
As we continue to grow thanks to all your support, you will be seeing more content from other creators on our platforms. We created this not only as a way to showcase our work, but more so to bring people together through the various ways that each of us express ourselves through. Be it through a camera from a photographer/videographer, the creative writers that have wonderful story-telling gifts, and the pure enthusiasts who help make it all possible.
Our full video recap of this event is up on our YouTube channel: PROJECT1.
